How to Build an Underwater Video Tripod

This video is for the DIY divers. It explains how I created a custom underwater video tripod with rubber collar that rotates around the housing macro port.

The reason for this unique design is to be able to shoot video in vertical format for my dive adventure stories on social media. With this setup I can film 4K per usual and then rotate the tripod to film 1080p video for the dive story. Super versatile!

How to Build a DIY Underwater Video Tripod

Notice that the tripod legs are created with loc-line extensions. The loc-line tripod legs are extremely stable and very quick to adjust while setting up to shoot on any surface. This port-mount tripod can even be combined with a Joby Gorillapod tripod in order to support the back of the housing when shooting on flat surfaces (e.g. sand).

I’ve used this underwater video tripod quite a few times in the last two weeks and it’s 1) performing really well, and 2) holding up really well. A successful project!
